Moving from Good to Great – Skills you need to start NOW!
Do you want to be the consultant or team member that stands out amongst your peers?
Start implementing these two skills in your daily life that will work.
Build Trust
Do exactly what you said and do it when you said you were going to do it. Being able to be depended on without oversight builds creditability and trust.
One way to do this that works every time, is to invest in the client’s issues and get excited about making a difference. This will come out in the quality of your work.
Don’t Be Afraid to Ask Questions
Asking questions helps you ensure that you understand what you are being asked to do/solve. This also helps you demonstrate your understanding of the task or problem.
Always ask for clarification, this certainly does not look as bad as submitting something that is wrong.
Restate what you have been asked to do or to solve – This helps inspire confidence with your client, manager or team, the person asking you.
Again, doing these things helps your client/customer gain more trust that you understand their needs and will reflect in your work when you complete your
task accurately or solve the problem your were given and your customer needs are met.
The more trust, the more opportunities you will be given from all those your come in contact with.
Call to Action:
I want you to…think about people (consultants)/companies that you trust. I want you to assess why you trust them. What do they do that make you trust them?
Think about what you can do in your circle to implement trust building activities.
Write them down in a safe place where you can visit the reminder often
until you make it your norm instead of a forced effort.
Keep Growing!
